We are thrilled to anounce that the Exhibition “San and Bushmen culture” opened on the 3rd of April and is now open to the public. The official opening took place together with his Excellency the Right Honourable Prime Minister Russel Mmiso Dlamini at the National Museum of Eswatini in Lobamba.
The history of the San people is an important piece of Eswatini’s heritage. They were one of the original inhabitants of Southern Africa and lived as hunter-gatherers since prehistoric times. Today they are especially known for the remarkable rock paintings they left behind, of which some are located in Eswatini. More than that, they also show an incredible craftmanship of hunting tools as well as the use of ochre.
The exhibition was curated by Bob Forrester, a Swazi heritage specialist, who collaborated with the Eswatini National Trust Commission. We would like to thank everyone involved in this project, which enriches the National Museum and widens the perspective of the very special cultural heritage of Eswatini.
