Planet Africa Exhibition

On the 3rd of April another exhibition, “Planet Africa”, was inaugurated at the National Museum of Eswatini in Lobamba. The opening ceremony was filled with speeches from his Excellency the Right Honourable Prime Minister Russel Mmiso Dlamini of Eswatini and the German Ambassador from Pretoria Mister Andreas Peschke.

“Planet Africa – an archaeological time travel” is a project from the German Archaeological Institute funded by the German Federal Office. The project leader Dr. Jörg Linstädter, as well as the main curators Prof. Gerd Weniger and Miriam Rotgänger, had the idea to create an exhibition about Africa since it is the cradle of humanity with a unique cultural heritage – a hotspot of research, a continent as rich in nature, history and cultural change as an entire planet. In collaboration with many international scientists “Planet Africa” has opened in Morocco, Kenya, Ghana, Germany, Eswatini and soon to open in Mozambique.

This marks Eswatini’s first partcipation in Germany’s Cultural Preservation Programme since the recent collaboration between Eswatini and Germany. We are excited to continue the good relationship between both countries and are looking forward for more opportunities to work in the future.
