After meeting one of the founders of the NGO Hope Alive 268, we were invited to present our work to the children and teenagers at the Hope Alive learning centre in Siteki. Hope Alive 268 is a registered NGO committed to improving the physical, emotional and spiritual welfare of the orphaned, vulnerable and abused children of Eswatini. Being impressed by their dedicated work, we wanted to contribute to educating the children about prehistory and their own unique cultural heritage. Our excavation leader, Dr. Gregor Bader, started the afternoon with a Powerpoint presentation about archaeology and the excavation sites we are working on. We were happy to see the whole classroom filled with students interested in the past. After that we had a real-life workshop on how to create stone tools done by our PhD student Gunther Möller. We had an amazing time getting to know the students and hope to come back soon to the wonderful kids and team of Hope Alive 268.
